An end to end game to game on a wet afternoon Shamen Goswell had the first chance when his shot form distance cannoned off the visitors cross bar for a goal kick. Royals fell behind after ten minutes to what looked like an off side goal by Robert Ellis but where level four minutes later when they were awarded a penalty following a defender’s push at a corner kick.
Dylan Chaffin converted the spot kick. The home team were in front five minutes later when Shamen Goswell scored from twenty yards from a direct free kick to inside the keeper’s right upright.
Windlesham levelled from their own free kick which Ellis kept low and went through the Woodley wall in the thirty second minute.
Ben Anderson had a shot hit the underside of the cross bar and good play between Harrison Moore and Goswell saw the later hit the side netting as the game went into first half stoppage time.
The second half got off to the worst possible start with Ellis completing his hat trick within twenty seconds of his team kick off. United went through a period of uncertainty but gradually they regained their composure and were level in the sixty sixth minute. A Chaffin corner saw Anderson’s shot blocked by the keeper and fall to Simon Frost to score his first goal for the club from within the six yard box.
United took the initiative but were unable to find a fourth goal and were forced to spend the final four minutes and stoppage time with ten men following the sin binning of Jarvis Chelton.
